Educational provider Gateway has entered into an official partnership with Jolly Learning Ltd to introduce the internationally recognised Jolly Phonics programme more widely across Sri Lanka, beginning January 2027.
Gateway, which has utilised Jolly Phonics for over two decades, has formalised its commitment to early literacy education through a partnership agreement with Jolly Learning, a UK-based educational organisation. The collaboration aims to provide structured access to the phonics methodology, teaching resources, digital platforms and professional development for educators across the island.
Jolly Phonics, used in educational settings globally, employs a multi-sensory approach to help young learners develop foundational reading and writing skills. Gateway team members recently completed training in Hyderabad, India, to familiarise themselves with the latest developments in the Jolly Learning methodology and its classroom application.
The initiative will launch in January 2027 through Gateway's network of kindergartens operating under the Seven Cs by Gateway brand, its activity centres branded as BigSpark by Gateway, and a wider network of Jolly Learning partners throughout the country. Initial rollout will focus on six locations: Borella, Moratuwa, Athurugiriya, Piliyandala, Nugegoda and Battaramulla.
Gateway emphasises that a robust foundation in literacy can significantly influence a child's confidence and academic progress across all learning areas. Beyond introducing the international programme, the partnership prioritises building educator capacity to ensure consistent quality in programme delivery across participating centres.
