The government's digital payment system has processed over LKR 5 billion in transactions across more than 300 institutions, marking progress in Sri Lanka's public sector digitalization efforts.

Sri Lanka's GovPay platform has reached a significant transaction threshold, processing more than LKR 5 billion across its network, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Digital Economy. The achievement reflects the growing adoption of the centralized payment system among government institutions nationwide.

The platform currently serves over 300 government institutions, enabling members of the public to conduct government-related payments without visiting physical locations. According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, the system offers secure transaction processing and allows citizens to complete payments at their convenience, regardless of time or location.

GovPay represents a key component of Sri Lanka's broader strategy to modernize public service delivery through digital infrastructure. The Ministry characterized the milestone as demonstrating tangible progress toward establishing a digitally-enabled government system. Officials have positioned the platform as part of wider efforts to enhance efficiency across government payment processing and reduce administrative burdens on both citizens and institutions.
