The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished by the President in his capacity as the Minister of Defence to appoint  L. K. Wijemanne, the senior most officer in Sri Lanka Scientific Service serving in the Department of Meteorology  and currently serving  in the post of Additional Director General of the Department to the post of the Post of Director General of the Meteorological Department.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution presented by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Governments to publish the draft bill for Eradicating Rabies and  Registration of Canines in the Government Gazette Notification and there after submit the same to the Parliament for its concurrence.

Considering the resolution furnished by the Prime Minister in her capacity as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the implementation of the program to provide a gift voucher valued at Rs. 3,000/- for each selected school student, lay, Female and Male Monastic Student of Pirivenas to purchase shoes. Local shoe manufacturers will take  shoes to the school premises within  the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, and North Western provinces while students in  the Central, North, North Central, and Uva provinces could  purchase the shoes from the open market.
