The Department of Examinations has begun marking papers for the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, with results expected within the coming weeks.
Paper marking for the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination commenced today across multiple evaluation centres, according to the Department of Examinations. The examination itself was administered on August 9 at 2,723 centres throughout Sri Lanka.
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage outlined the scope of the marking process, which will involve 380 evaluation boards operating across 48 evaluation centres nationally. Of these boards, 142 have been designated to assess the first and second papers of the Sinhala-medium examination, while 48 boards each have been assigned to evaluate the Tamil-medium papers.
Regarding the timeline, sources differ slightly on when results will be announced. According to the Department of Examinations, results are expected within one month of the examination date, though the Commissioner General also stated that outcomes are anticipated on or before September 9. The marking process is scheduled to continue until August 25.
Meanwhile, the Department has also announced that paper marking for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination will begin on September 3, indicating a staggered schedule for evaluating different examination levels.
