Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Minister Sunil Handunnetti conducted investment discussions with Australian entrepreneurs and investors in Victoria, according to reports from NewsWire. The talks, held in Clyde North, included participation from senior officials including the Deputy Director General of Sri Lanka's Board of Investment and the Chairman of the Export Development Board.
The discussions covered a diverse range of potential projects across multiple economic sectors. Among the opportunities explored were sustainable energy solutions, recycling programs within the apparel industry, and commercial dairy and livestock farming operations. Officials also presented plans for a large-scale manufacturing facility focused on 3D printing and equipment production using recycled plastic materials at the Ekala Industrial Estate.
Additional investment avenues discussed included integrated aquaculture initiatives, eco-tourism development in the Marawila region, and food processing operations. Several Australian companies featured prominently in the talks, including ECOGEN, AusLoop Global Solutions, FRMAFIRST, OSCS Holdings, and FLEXIMAKE.
According to the Ministry, the Australian investors indicated preliminary enthusiasm for the proposed projects and committed to pursuing further steps toward potential implementation in Sri Lanka. The discussions represent part of Sri Lanka's broader effort to attract foreign direct investment and establish technology and industry partnerships internationally.
