COLOMBO (News 1st): Dengue cases continue to rise in the Colombo, Gampaha, Badulla, Kurunegala, and Puttalam districts.The Director of the National Dengue Control Unit of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, stated that the number of cases reported from districts such as Galle, Matara, and Ratnapura is declining. 56,422 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.The number of deaths due to dengue to date is 35.Meanwhile, the island-wide mosquito control program conducted by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government continues today.The National Dengue Control Unit reiterated that the risk of dengue can be avoided by maintaining one's surroundings in a manner that prevents the breeding of mosquito larvae.
