Results from the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination have been released, with students from Kurunegala and Jaffna achieving the highest marks in Sinhala and Tamil mediums respectively.

The Commissioner General of Examinations announced the results of the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination on Wednesday. A student from Kurunegala District achieved the highest mark in the Sinhala medium with 193 points, while a student from Jaffna District secured the top score in the Tamil medium with 188 points.

According to Commissioner General A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage, the examination's cut-off mark was set at 139 this year, with 56,000 students scoring above this threshold. Of the 294,132 students who registered for the exam held on August 9th, a total of 289,867 candidates actually sat for the examination.

The examination accommodated students with diverse needs, with 1,018 students with special needs participating in the assessment. Additionally, 18 children using the Braille medium also completed the examination. The Commissioner General stated that details regarding the application period for result re-scrutiny will be announced at a later date.
