Hilton Yala Resort has introduced a Junior Ranger Program for children aged 5 to 12, offering hands-on wildlife education culminating in internationally recognised CyberTracker Junior Tracker certification—reportedly the only such offering at a resort in Sri Lanka.
Hilton Yala Resort has unveiled an educational wildlife initiative designed to engage young visitors with Sri Lanka's natural environment through immersive outdoor learning. The Junior Ranger Program invites children between 5 and 12 years old to participate in guided experiences within Yala National Park, combining practical field activities with instruction in ecology, tracking, and conservation principles.
The program's distinguishing feature is its partnership with CyberTracker Conservation, an internationally recognised assessment methodology used by wildlife professionals globally. According to the resort, Hilton Yala is the only accommodation facility in Sri Lanka integrating CyberTracker Junior Tracker certification into its youth programming. This certification emphasises observation, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning through outdoor exploration rather than traditional classroom methods.
Participants engage in guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tracking exercises, archaeology experiences, and biodiversity identification across one-day or two-day program formats. The resort's ranger team leads activities designed to build environmental awareness and outdoor skills while encouraging children to understand ecosystem relationships. Young participants who complete the program receive recognition and the opportunity to achieve CyberTracker certification appropriate to their level.
The initiative aligns with Hilton's global Travel with Purpose strategy, which emphasises meaningful guest experiences alongside environmental stewardship and community benefit. Resort leadership has described the program as intended to foster long-term appreciation for wildlife conservation among participants. Families seeking additional information can contact the resort via email or WhatsApp.
