P.K. Muthukumarana, a bartender at Hilton Yala Resort, has been awarded the title of Most Promising Bartender at Sri Lanka's 31st National Bartenders Competition held in Colombo.
P.K. Muthukumarana, known to guests at Hilton Yala Resort as 'PK', has received recognition as the Most Promising Bartender at the 31st National Bartenders Competition 2026. The competition, held in Colombo, drew together skilled mixologists from across the country who demonstrated technical proficiency, creativity, and innovation through cocktails featuring locally sourced spirits and indigenous ingredients.
The competition was organised by the Sri Lanka Hospitality Graduates Association in partnership with the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management and International Distillers Limited. The event included regional rounds, masterclasses, and semi-finals before concluding with the national grand finale.
According to Indika Fernando, Food & Beverage Manager at Hilton Yala Resort, Muthukumarana's achievement reflects his dedication to his craft and the resort's commitment to developing hospitality talent. Fernando stated that beyond technical skills, Muthukumarana demonstrates warmth and professionalism in service. Sanoj Perera, Director of Marketing & Communication at the resort, noted that the recognition highlights the calibre of talent within Hilton Yala's team and underscores the resort's investment in staff development and training opportunities.
