The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon marked the arrival of its 2026 student cohort through two celebratory events organised by the 46th Batch, featuring sporting competitions and social gatherings designed to foster community and integration.

The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon recently held two inaugural events to welcome its new student intake for 2026. The 46th Batch of the College of Chemical Sciences organised both occasions to facilitate bonding among newcomers and create a sense of belonging within the academic community.

The first event, Sports Day 2026, took place on 15 July at the Chandra Silva Grounds in Rajagiriya. Beginning at 8.00 a.m., the day included track and field competitions, recreational games, and team-based activities that drew participation from newly enrolled students. The occasion emphasised sportsmanship and collaboration, with attendees from different academic levels supporting one another throughout the various contests.

The celebrations continued on 17 July with Freshers' Night 2026, held at the New Siri Banquet Hall in Hokandara from 5.30 p.m. The evening combined student performances, interactive programmes, and social activities in a relaxed setting. The event provided the new intake with opportunities to establish connections with senior students and academic staff in an informal environment.

Both occasions were attended by senior Institute leadership, including Professor Chandani Perera, President of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, and Professor Janitha Liyanage, Dean of the College of Chemical Sciences, alongside academic staff and students across all year groups. The Institute stated that these events reflected its commitment to supporting not only academic development but also personal growth and long-term peer relationships among its student body.
