MP Selvam Adikkalanathan has publicly alleged that the current activities of Pividuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila have raised serious doubts in the backdrop of the Easter Sunday terror attacks and the ongoing investigations into Suresh Saleh. “There is a strong suspicion among the public that there are any indirect links between this heinous attack and Udaya Gammanpila. Therefore, he should be arrested immediately and subjected to a thorough investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department,” he added, urging the security forces. He made this statement while participating in the adjournment debate on 'Combating the Drug Menace in the Country' held in Parliament yesterday (26.06.2026). He further stated that we wholeheartedly support the many special strategies being put forward by the current government to eradicate and prevent drug trafficking in the country. In Sri Lanka, the Tamil-speaking youth community, especially from the Northern and Eastern provinces, is being systematically targeted through the drug trade. This must be controlled with an iron fist, and we are ready to provide our full support to all the security forces working for this. Meanwhile, our respected late former Bishop Rayappu Joseph, who spoke on the issue of missing persons during the war in Sri Lanka, had stated with evidence that around one lakh 46644 people had gone missing. His bold revelations have reached the United Nations and are still echoing for justice today.
Now, shocking news has been released that about 409 human skeletons have been found so far from a new mass grave in the Semmani area of Jaffna. This reveals that Tamils have been brutally massacred here even more than the number stated by the bishop. The Semmani mass grave is becoming one of the areas where the largest number of human skeletons has been found in the world.
When we look at the skeletal remains of young children being recovered from there, it is impossible to imagine how cruelly they must have suffered before they died. The government has said that it will take scientific measures to analyze these on an international scale, and this should be done immediately without any political delay.
Amidst all this, the government should expedite the investigations into the Easter Sunday bombings. In the current environment, when false propaganda is being spread that former Director of Investigation Suresh Sale, who is allegedly involved in this attack, is being tortured and is on a hunger strike in prison, some racist elements in the opposition party, including Udaya Gammanpila, are jumping around inside and outside Parliament. Given Gammanpila's extreme tension in this matter, reasonable doubts arise as to whether he has any direct or indirect connection behind the Easter Sunday attacks. He is jumping around like this to cover up his own mistakes or the mistakes of those close to him from the law. Therefore, he has stated that the security forces should immediately arrest Udaya Gammanpila and conduct proper investigations against him.
