Youth Affairs Deputy Minister Dinindu Saman Hennayake has said that the youth unemployment rate in Sri Lanka has decreased significantly in the past year as the government has created new jobs through the tourism and information technology sectors and through joint partnerships with the private sector. He made this statement while addressing the ‘Youth Inspiration Games Festival 2026’ finale and award ceremony held at the National Youth Corps training camp in Divulapitiya as the chief guest. He pointed out that the primary goal of the current government is to create a better future for the youth of the country. In this regard, the Deputy Minister further stated: The government is taking steps to introduce proper leadership training programs to prevent youth from getting addicted to drug addiction and to guide them in the right direction. In addition, sports and arts-related activities will be promoted nationwide with a view to developing morality and human values. He also said that two new programs will soon be implemented by the government to take the talents of Sri Lankan youth to the international level.
