Four people have been sentenced to 101 years in prison for the serious abuse of teenage boys. The Anuradhapura Special High Court for Juvenile Offences has sentenced four accused to 101 years in prison in just 20 days. The orders were issued by High Court Judges Chandun Withana and Ruwan Dhammika Dissanayake. Senior State Counsel Chamika Guruge had led all the cases on behalf of the Attorney General. Accordingly, the incumbent of the Sri Sambuddha Valukarama Viharaya of Thambuttegama, Hurigaswewa, Thalakolawewa was sentenced to 30 years rigorous imprisonment for the charge of subjecting a boy who was handed over to the Viharaya for monasticism to serious indecent treatment from the first day of his handover. The incumbent of the Sri Seevali Chaithiyarama Viharaya of Kalenbindunuwa, Sivalakulam was sentenced to 24 years rigorous imprisonment for the charge of subjecting a 10-year-old boy to serious indecent treatment. K.S. Sumudu Sampath Kumara was sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment for the charge of subjecting his sister, a 7-year-old girl, to misconduct in a relationship. A man was sentenced to 32 years in prison for brutally indecently assaulting his girlfriend's 15-year-old daughter.
