India has donated 10 water purification units to Galle National Hospital, with Indian officials formally handing over the equipment on August 29 as a gesture of bilateral cooperation.
India has presented 10 water purification units to Galle National Hospital as a contribution aimed at improving the facility's infrastructure. The donation was formally transferred on August 29 by Acting High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Maitrey Kulkarni and Consul General of India in Hambantota Harvinder Singh to hospital Deputy Director General and Consultant Dr. Priyantha Atapattu.
The purification units are slated for installation across multiple locations within the hospital premises. One unit was officially commissioned near the hospital's main entrance during the handover ceremony, marking the beginning of the equipment's operational deployment.
Following the formal presentation, the Indian delegation visited key sections of the hospital's emergency response infrastructure, touring both the Emergency Treatment Unit and the Emergency Treatment Centre to observe existing facilities and understand operational needs.
