A delegation from India's Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday to discuss potential commercial collaborations across multiple sectors including logistics, tea, and healthcare products.
Business representatives from the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India visited the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday to explore opportunities for strengthening commercial ties between the two nations. The delegation, led by CCCI President Vinodini Sukumar and Past President C S Kartha, engaged with Ceylon Chamber leadership including Chairperson Krishan Balendra and other senior officials.
During the meetings and subsequent business-to-business networking sessions, participants discussed potential collaboration across several key sectors. These included logistics and shipping operations, import and export trade arrangements, hospital products and medical supplies, cold storage infrastructure, advertising and marketing services, and the tea industry. Both chambers emphasised the importance of leveraging respective strengths to build stronger regional business connections.
The discussions reflected a broader focus on deeper private-sector integration through investment opportunities, technology partnerships, knowledge exchange programmes, and expanded business services. Chamber representatives highlighted how companies from both countries could benefit from closer cooperation to tap into emerging market trends and regional growth opportunities. The Cochin Chamber, established in 1857, is one of India's oldest business chambers and represents enterprises across diverse industries, making it a significant partner for Sri Lankan businesses seeking to expand Indian market access.
