The Indian Men's Selection Committee has named a 15-member squad for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with Shubman Gill leading the team as captain.
India's cricket team is set to tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series in August, with the squad announcement coming ahead of warm-up preparations. The team will begin with a four-day practice match in Colombo starting on 7 August before the official Tests commence.
Shubman Gill has been appointed captain for the series, with KL Rahul serving as vice-captain. The squad includes established players such as Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeeping options, along with spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Manav Suthar. Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnoor Brar feature in the bowling unit.
The first Test will take place at Galle International Cricket Stadium from 15-19 August, followed by the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from 23-27 August. However, the availability of two key players remains uncertain, with the BCCI Centre of Excellence having to provide fitness clearance for both Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah before confirmation. Additionally, Washington Sundar has been unavailable for selection for the opening Test match.
