Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces and in the Anuradhapura district after 1.00 p.m.
Moderate to heavy rainfall of up to 50 mm is expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Foggy conditions are expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central and Uva provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Vavuniya and Kurunegala districts during the early hours of the morning.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the potential for damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning strikes in those areas during thundershowers.
Due to the northward movement of the Sun, it will be directly overhead in Sri Lanka from the 5th to the 15th of April this year. Accordingly, the Sun will be overhead over Bandatarippu, Tellipalla, Varuthalavilan, Vasavilan and Manakadu at 12.10 noon today (15th).
