Following critical acclaim for his portrayal of Michael Jackson in the biopic 'Michael', actor Jaafar Jackson has been cast in the upcoming action thriller 'Supermax' alongside Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb.
Jaafar Jackson has secured his next major film role in the action thriller 'Supermax', joining a cast that includes Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb. The project, directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by David Weil and David J. Rosen, centres on two FBI agents investigating a murder that occurs within a maximum-security prison facility. Jackson's specific role in the film remains undisclosed, though reports indicate it will be significant to the central storyline.
The casting comes on the heels of Jackson's breakthrough performance in the Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael', for which he received widespread critical recognition. His portrayal of the late pop icon helped the film achieve the status of highest-grossing biopic of all time, surpassing both 'Oppenheimer' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, traced Jackson's career trajectory from his involvement with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s through his 'Bad' tour era, and marked Jackson's film debut.
The production of 'Supermax' involves multiple production entities and studios. The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are producing alongside Will Smith and Adam Fishbach for Westbrook Studios. Executive producers include the film's writers David Weil and David J. Rosen, alongside executives from Miramax including CEO Jonathan Glickman and other senior leadership figures, as well as representatives from Westbrook Studios.
