Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has said that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake should give clear answers regarding the rising cost of living. He pointed out that the public is expecting answers to the rising cost of living rather than the President expressing his views on arrests, investigations and court cases. The President, while monitoring the police, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the courts, has stated that "predictive predictions regarding arrests, investigations and verdicts should not be made from Parliament." If there are cases, let the law take its course. He said that we are ready to face any investigation and legal procedures. He said that we have faith in the judiciary. Namal Rajapaksa stressed that the government's focus should be solely on finding a solution to this cost of living issue as families across Sri Lanka have been severely affected by the rise in prices and housing costs. He also alleged that despite coming to power with the promise of providing clean governance, the current government is facing serious allegations of corruption. Pointing out that there have been allegations that government ministers are amassing assets without accountability, he also questioned what action the Anti-Corruption Commission has taken regarding these corruption complaints against government members. Therefore, he urged the President to focus on the country's economic challenges and public concerns regarding corruption, rather than making unnecessary comments on arrests and court proceedings.
