Sri Lankan and Malaysian law enforcement agencies have initiated a coordinated operation to apprehend Mohamed Najeem Mohamed Imran, a wanted underworld figure and international drug trafficking suspect, with heightened surveillance at key border points.

A significant international law enforcement initiative has been set in motion to capture Mohamed Najeem Mohamed Imran, known by the alias "Kanjipani Imran," who is sought as a major underworld operator and international drug kingpin. The joint operation, undertaken between Sri Lankan and Malaysian authorities, was initiated following directives from Sri Lanka's Public Security Minister, the Ministry Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, and the Senior Deputy Inspector General of the Criminal Investigation Department.

The Sri Lankan contingent deployed to Malaysia is headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, accompanied by supporting officers. Coordination efforts from Colombo are being managed by Chief Inspector Rajakaruna, who heads Interpol Sri Lanka's operations, ensuring streamlined communication between the two nations' law enforcement agencies. The operation involves close cooperation with Malaysian authorities, including the Royal Malaysia Police and its Serious Crime Division, as well as Interpol Malaysia.

To prevent the suspect's escape, authorities have implemented comprehensive containment measures across Malaysia. These include intensive surveillance operations and the securing of all major departure points—airports, seaports, and maritime routes—to block potential exit strategies. Coordinated search operations and border sweeps are actively progressing across designated operational zones as the manhunt continues.
