Sri Lanka will host the Eoullim K-Culture Festival on August 29, featuring academic discussions, cultural activities, and performances to showcase Korean traditions and strengthen educational ties between the two nations.
A festival dedicated to Korean culture will take place in Colombo on Saturday, 29 August 2026, at the Bishop's College Auditorium. The Eoullim Sri Lanka K-Culture Festival, themed "Freshly Baked Peaches," aims to introduce Sri Lankan audiences to Korean cultural experiences through locally-adapted programming.
The event is organised jointly by Far East University of South Korea and IDM Nations Campus International (IDMNC), a Sri Lankan institution, with support from South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism through the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange. The festival structure comprises three main components: an academic conference in the morning addressing cultural exchange and the Korean Wave phenomenon, an interactive cultural village in the afternoon featuring Korean cuisine, beauty treatments, and taekwondo demonstrations, and an evening K-Performance showcasing traditional arts, taekwondo displays, theatrical swordplay, and K-pop cover performances.
Organisers have positioned the festival as part of broader educational cooperation between the nations. A key focus will be highlighting the "1+3" academic partnership between Far East University and IDMNC, which enables Sri Lankan students to pursue higher education opportunities in South Korea.
