Kandy Kings claimed the championship title of Sri Lanka's first league-style tennis competition, defeating Jaffna Flamingos 35-26 points in a closely contested final held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts.
Kandy Kings were crowned champions of the Sri Lanka Tennis Premier League 2026 following a decisive victory over Jaffna Flamingos in the final. The tournament, which ran from August 27 to 30 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts, marked the inaugural edition of the league-style competition. Kandy Kings secured the title with a 35-point margin over their opponents, with the competition sponsored by CL Synergy Power and powered by Wilson.
The final featured several competitive matches that shaped the outcome of the championship. Kandy Kings started strongly when Savini Jayasuriya defeated Janali Manamperi 7-5 in the opening singles match. However, Jaffna Flamingos responded decisively through Pakistan's top-ranked player Muzammil Murtaza, who defeated Sri Lanka's No. 1 national player Thehan Wijemanna 6-4 in one of the tournament's most anticipated encounters. Kandy Kings subsequently regained momentum through victories in the girls' Under-15 category and mixed doubles competition.
The championship was ultimately decided in the men's doubles encounter, where Wijemanna and Mineth Nawarathne defeated Aravind Fernando and Murtaza 6-3, securing Kandy Kings' memorable triumph. Several players received individual recognition at the tournament's conclusion, including Yuhansa Peiris of Weligama Warriors as Most Valuable Women's Player and Murtaza as Most Valuable Men's Player. Navya Banagala of the victorious Kandy Kings team won the Most Valuable Girls' Player award, while Damsath Peiris of Jaffna Flamingos received the Most Valuable Boys' Player honour. Jaffna's Janali Manamperi was presented with the Wilson Fair Play Award.
Jaffna Flamingos concluded the tournament as runners-up despite an impressive campaign that brought them to the final.
