The Meteorological Department has issued an “Amber” emergency weather warning for the sea areas from Kalpitiya to Kankesanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. The warning, which was issued at 11 am today (27), will remain in effect until 11 am tomorrow (28). Accordingly, in the sea areas off the coast from Kalpitiya to Kankesanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil, the wind speed may increase to 50 to 60 kilometers per hour at times. Due to this, the weather forecast states that the said sea areas will be turbulent at times. Therefore, fishermen and naval personnel have been requested to exercise extreme caution regarding this matter and to remain vigilant regarding subsequent announcements issued by the Meteorological Department in this regard.
