The hunger strike to death initiated by a family member in the Vannekereni area of Pachilaipalli, Kilinochchi, presenting five demands, has been temporarily called off following the positive promises of the Divisional Secretary. Out of the 500 acres of forest considered as backward property, 50 acres of land should be released for investment and distributed to our villagers. In addition, the Gram Sevak (GS), who is an obstacle to the development of the village and who says that he will not let agriculture grow, should be transferred immediately. Furthermore, everyone should unite to create a clean and beautiful agricultural village free from drug abuse. Government schemes and social services should reach the people properly. 5 demands have been made, including that government employees should immediately stop showing casteism, linguisticism and racism. Promise from officials Following this, as the protest continued for the second day yesterday (26), the Pachilappally Divisional Secretary and Kilinochchi District Secretariat officials went to the protest site at 2 pm to listen to the demands. After that, the officials who discussed with the protestors have publicly promised to fulfill the demands presented as soon as possible.
