National Dengue Eradication Event at the Gran Health Medical Officer Division

A special dengue eradication program was organized by the Gran Health Medical Officer Dr. Sivalaksan with the participation of the Batticaloa District Government Agent J.S. Arulraj yesterday (26) to control the spread of dengue. Batticaloa district has been identified as one of the 14 districts with the highest incidence of dengue and a red alert has been issued. In view of this, due to the high number of dengue patients being identified in the Sandiveli area of the district, in accordance with the special instructions of the Presidential Secretariat, the environment was cleaned and mosquito breeding places were removed with the cooperation of government officials. During this, houses, commercial establishments, vacant lands, drains and other areas were cleaned, and water-logged containers and dengue mosquito breeding places were removed. During this operation, cases were filed against 20 people and red warnings were issued. It is noteworthy that a pregnant woman died of dengue in the district yesterday. The Kiran Medical Officer of Health requested the public to keep their homes and surroundings clean, remove unnecessary waste properly, take steps to prevent water from accumulating, and provide full cooperation in dengue eradication efforts.
