Ranjith Kumara, an alleged organised crime and drug trafficking figure known as 'Konda Ranji,' has been arrested by Sri Lanka's Criminal Investigation Department after being deported from Dubai, where he had been held in custody.

Ranjith Kumara, identified by police as an alleged underworld figure operating under the alias 'Konda Ranji,' was taken into CID custody upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport following his deportation from Dubai on 9 September. The suspect had been detained by authorities in Dubai earlier in the year while Sri Lankan officials pursued extradition procedures.

According to police statements, Kumara is linked to a range of criminal activities. Investigators have connected him to alleged organised crime operations, drug trafficking, and money laundering schemes involving the transfer of drug-proceeds overseas. Additionally, police allege that Kumara functioned as an associate of organised crime figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa and has been linked to assaults, intimidation, and multiple shooting incidents targeting residences.

Police records indicate that Kumara has been arrested on 12 separate occasions in connection with various criminal investigations prior to this arrest. The CID has initiated further investigations into his alleged activities, though specific charges have not yet been detailed in available reports.
