The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has announced the opening of a dedicated Visa Application Centre in Colombo on 21 August 2026, which will handle all regular visa applications and passport submissions going forward.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka has announced significant changes to its visa application procedures coinciding with the launch of a new Visa Application Centre scheduled to open on 21 August 2026. The facility, operated by VFS Global, will be located at No. 675, Dr. Danister De Silva Mawatha in Colombo 09.
Following the opening, all routine visa applications and related passport submissions will be processed exclusively through the new centre rather than directly at the embassy. Applicants will be required to submit their documents and collect their passports through this facility using an online appointment system accessible via the centre's website at visaforkorea-sl.com. The embassy's current online reservation system for visa applications will cease to function after the transition.
The embassy will maintain certain exceptions to this arrangement. Diplomatic and Official visa applications that are accompanied by a Third Person Note issued by Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism will continue to be handled directly at the embassy. Additionally, the embassy will retain direct processing of notarisation services and Police Clearance Certificates, with its existing online reservation system for these services remaining operational.
The embassy stated that it anticipates the new system will streamline the application process and enhance convenience for applicants. Contact details for the Visa Application Centre include a telephone number (+94-11-235-0629) and email address ([email protected]) for inquiries.
