A new water supply infrastructure project in Laggala was officially vested to the public on Wednesday, promising clean drinking water access to over 25,000 residents across the divisional secretariat area.
The Laggala New Town Water Supply Project was handed over to public use on Wednesday under the direction of Minister Susil Ranasinghe. The initiative, developed by the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Water Supply, addresses long-standing water scarcity issues that have affected communities in the region.
The project is designed to serve more than 25,000 residents spread across approximately 6,500 households located within 21 Grama Niladhari divisions of the Laggala Divisional Secretariat area. Officials stated that the infrastructure will provide reliable access to safe and clean drinking water, a critical resource for the communities previously facing shortages.
The completion of the Laggala New Town Water Supply Project represents a significant development effort aimed at enhancing living standards and public health outcomes in the region. The vesting of the facility to public administration marks the transition from the construction and implementation phase to active service delivery.
