Lakshan Madurasinghe has become Sri Lanka's first certified coach in Simon Sinek's WHY Discovery methodology, bringing an internationally recognized framework for identifying personal and professional purpose to local leaders and entrepreneurs.
Lakshan Madurasinghe has achieved a distinction in Sri Lanka's coaching sector by becoming the country's first and only Certified WHY Coach, qualified to facilitate the WHY Discovery process developed by Simon Sinek's WHY School. The methodology is grounded in identifying one's deep-seated purpose, cause and belief—what Sinek terms the "WHY"—as a driver for authentic leadership and personal fulfillment.
Madurasinghe brings more than 25 years of professional experience to this new role. His career has spanned the corporate, development and public sectors, including leadership positions at The Coca-Cola Company across multiple South Asian countries, presidency of the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka, and board roles with the Board of Investment Sri Lanka. Throughout these roles, he has focused on organizational legacy, crisis navigation, leadership strengthening and stakeholder engagement.
According to Madurasinghe, the WHY Discovery process provides individuals with language and clarity to articulate their deeper motivations. Unlike job titles or aspirational goals, the approach emphasizes discovering who one truly is rather than who one wishes to become. He contends that understanding this purpose enables better decision-making, more authentic communication and stronger relationships across personal and professional contexts.
The methodology is designed for diverse audiences, ranging from senior executives and emerging leaders to entrepreneurs navigating career transitions and teams seeking shared purpose alignment. Participants typically emerge from the discovery process with a clearly articulated purpose statement, accompanied by understanding of how to implement it. Madurasinghe plans to expand beyond the discovery phase through ongoing coaching, executive mentorship and leadership development programmes targeting individuals and organizations across Sri Lanka and internationally.
