Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne has been appointed as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Army following the completion of his predecessor's tenure.
Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne has assumed the position of Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, according to announcements from Defence Secretary Air Chief Marshal (Retired) Sampath Thuyacontha. The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The new Army Commander takes over from Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, who completed his term as the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. The transition marks a change in leadership within the country's military hierarchy at a time when the armed forces continue to play a significant role in national security matters.
