Litro Gas Lanka Limited has decided to hold LP gas prices steady for August 2026, keeping domestic cylinders at current rates despite rising international gas costs and unfavorable exchange rate conditions.
Litro Gas Lanka Limited announced on Wednesday that it will not adjust LP gas prices during August 2026, maintaining relief for consumers amid challenging global market conditions. The company cited rising international gas prices and difficult exchange rate circumstances as factors that typically influence pricing decisions, yet chose to absorb these pressures rather than pass costs to households.
The decision means consumers will continue paying existing rates across all domestic cylinder sizes. The 12.5-kilogram cylinder remains priced at Rs. 4,465, while the 5-kilogram option stays at Rs. 1,792. Smaller 2.3-kilogram cylinders will continue at Rs. 835. These rates will apply throughout the month of August.
The announcement reflects efforts by the state-owned energy company to provide financial relief to households during a period of economic adjustment. By maintaining static pricing despite external pressures, Litro Gas has prioritized consumer affordability over margin adjustments that might otherwise have been implemented.
