Two unidentified individuals set fire to a luxury bus at Kaduwela main bus stand early this morning, completely destroying the vehicle. Police believe the incident stems from a personal dispute.
A luxury bus operating between Kaduwela and Matara was completely destroyed in an early morning fire at Kaduwela main bus stand today. According to police reports, two unidentified suspects arrived at the location on a motorcycle between 2:30 a.m. and 2:45 a.m., set the bus ablaze, and fled the scene.
The driver and conductor of the targeted bus were inside the vehicle sleeping when the fire started. They managed to escape safely after being alerted by the crew of another parked bus nearby. Two additional buses operating on the Kaduwela–Kollupitiya route sustained minor damage from the spreading flames.
Police have characterized the attack as likely being motivated by a personal dispute, though investigations remain ongoing to identify the suspects and establish the exact circumstances. Kaduwela Police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for the incident.
