D.K.G. Kapila, the gunman of the currently imprisoned organized crime gang leader ‘Kehelpatara Padme’, Bombuwala Devage Suranga Sanjeewa Karunaratne alias ‘Mattiya’, was arrested by the security forces of the country while hiding in Malaysia. He was deported through the Katunayake Airport on Thursday (June 25) night. An international red notice had been issued against him, aged 42, from Yagodamulla area, Kottuwoda. He is accused of shooting dead the organized criminal ‘Pasbota’ alias Saman Rohitha Perera and another person with him inside the Gampaha court premises on July 22, 2022, and also shooting and injuring several people who were standing there. He was deported from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday (June 25) at 9.45 pm on Air Asia flight AK-047. Upon arrival at the Katunayake Airport, he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers. After recording his statements, he was handed over under heavy security to the Colombo North Crime Suppression Division in Peliyagoda for further investigation.
