A 46-year-old resident of Colombo has been arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division for allegedly circulating unverified claims on social media about an LTTE training camp operating in a forest reserve.

The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) arrested a 46-year-old man on August 18 following an investigation into claims he made regarding an alleged LTTE training camp. According to the Police Media Division, the suspect, a resident of Bellanwila in Boralesgamuwa, had disseminated the information through a video posted on social media and during a media briefing.

The claims specifically alleged that an LTTE training camp was being operated in the Palai forest reserve within the Akkarayankulam Police Division. Police stated that the information circulated by the suspect had not been verified or substantiated, characterizing it as unverified and false.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court for proceedings. Police indicated that legal action will be pursued against him under the provisions of the Penal Code and the Police Ordinance, though the specific charges have not been detailed publicly.
