Sri Lankan apparel manufacturer MAS Holdings has joined a major Series A investment in Syntetica, a French company developing technology to recycle complex nylon textile waste at industrial scale.
Syntetica, a French deeptech company specializing in textile waste recycling, has secured $30 million in Series A funding led by Bpifrance's Ecotechnologies 2 fund. The funding round brings together multiple heavyweight investors and apparel brands, including MAS Holdings, lululemon, SWEN Capital Partners, and EQT Ventures, alongside family offices connected to major companies such as Peugeot and Indorama.
The company has developed a proprietary process capable of recycling both Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6 from mixed textile waste in a single operation—a technical breakthrough that addresses a longstanding industry challenge. Historically, identifying and separating different nylon types has prevented large-scale recycling of post-consumer textiles. According to Syntetica's leadership, recycled nylon currently represents only around 2% of the global nylon market despite production reaching approximately 7 million tonnes annually, primarily due to these technical barriers.
Syntetica's approach targets post-consumer textiles, which account for roughly 80% of textile waste but remain largely untapped for recycling. More than 80% of discarded household textiles are currently incinerated, landfilled, or abandoned in the environment. The company is already collaborating with major brands including Victoria's Secret and Etam. The funding will support construction of a demonstration facility in France developed through a partnership with Michelin's Centre for Sustainable Materials, targeting the processing of hundreds of tonnes of waste annually.
MAS Holdings described the investment as strategically significant for the industry, emphasizing how Syntetica has successfully combined brand commitment, manufacturing partnerships, and industrial scaling expertise. Beyond textiles, the company plans to expand its technology platform into automotive and specialty chemicals applications as it develops.
