An armed robbery at a travel agency in Thalawathugoda has prompted a police investigation into what authorities describe as a significant theft. Three masked individuals entered the premises on the afternoon of September 1st, confronting the owner and staff members while brandishing sharp weapons, according to initial reports.

The robbers fled the scene in a white car, the same vehicle in which they arrived. During the incident, investigators noted that one employee was assaulted before the suspects seized valuables from the location. The total haul exceeded Rs. 60 million in cash, supplemented by jewelry including four gold necklaces and three gold rings that belonged to the travel agency's owner.

Police have obtained CCTV footage from the premises, which is currently being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation. The Thalawathugoda Police are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for the robbery. No arrests have been reported as of the time of this report.
