Vinokanthan. The event was held with great pomp at the Kokkatticholai Magizhaditheevu Cultural Hall, Batticaloa, organized by the Padmanabha Science Institute. K. Threskumar and K. Madhavan participated as the chief guests in this event. At the beginning of the event, Martyrs' Day was observed by lighting a flame, showering flowers and observing a two-minute silence in memory of the martyrs. On this occasion, a joint tribute was paid to the innocent civilians and martyrs who lost their lives in various brutal massacres in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, including the Kokkatticholai massacre, the Sathurukonda massacre, the Verugal massacre, the Kattankudy massacre and the Arunthalawa massacre.On the occasion of this commemoration day, a large-scale financial assistance and welfare programs were provided to promote the education of students: Financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 each was provided to promote the educational needs of 120 school students. A laptop was provided to one student for his higher education needs. Arrangements were also made to provide a monthly incentive of Rs. 15,000 each to four students who have been selected for university this year until the completion of their university studies, and the initial funds for this were also handed over on this occasion. To encourage the sportsmanship of the youth, sports shoes were provided to four sports clubs. It is noteworthy that many people including school students, university students, party dignitaries, supporters and the general public participated in the event and paid tribute.
