A grand graduation ceremony organized by the Batticaloa Municipal Council! The graduation ceremony was held by the Batticaloa Municipal Council on the occasion of the Tamil Sinhala New Year at the Galle Beach yesterday (15) from 3.30 pm. The event, where competitors participated individually and in groups, was graced by the Batticaloa Municipal Council Commissioner N. Dhananjayan and the Batticaloa District Government Agent Justina Muralitharan as the chief guest. Valuable cash prizes were presented to the winners of the competition by the hands of the Government President. The first place went to the Kalarupan group from the Kalutawala area of Batticaloa, who received a cash prize of Rs. 100,000/=, while the second place went to S. Rubesan and his team received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/=. S. Kulendran and Raghu from Arayampathy region received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/= for winning the third place. It is noteworthy that the titles created in this competition were selected by independent judges based on a theme that reflected innovation, artistic style, grandeur and the traditions of their region.
