Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nishantha Jayaweera said that about 12 million of the population above the age of 18 have been issued Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs).
He also said that the population of Sri Lanka above the age of 18 is 17 million.
The Deputy Minister said this at a media briefing held yesterday (26) morning.
Speaking further, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nishantha Jayaweera said that although the TINs have been issued to many people by now, many people do not know whether they have a TIN because the Inland Revenue Department has not mailed it to individuals.
