Jaffna Kings secured their place in the 2026 Lanka Premier League final following a commanding victory over Galle Gallants in the first qualifier match held at the RPS in Colombo on Wednesday. The Kings posted 242 runs for the loss of just two wickets, with the opposition managing 228 for eight in response.
The standout performance came from Kamil Mishara, who delivered an unbeaten 108-run innings off just 55 deliveries. His aggressive batting featured ten boundaries and seven sixes, setting the tone for Jaffna's dominant display. Supporting his effort were contributions from Khawaja Nafay and Towhid Hridoy, both of whom scored half-centuries to accelerate the innings during the middle overs.
Galle's chase fell short despite competitive batting performances from several players. Sam Harper opened with 44 runs, while Chamika Karunarathne added 39 and Dasun Shanaka contributed 34 runs. However, their efforts proved insufficient against Jaffna's disciplined bowling attack, which was led by Mohamed Shiraz with three wickets for 32 runs. The match produced a combined 470 runs across both innings, reflecting an entertaining encounter between the two sides.
The victory sends Jaffna Kings directly to the final, where they will await the winner of the second qualifier to determine the championship contest.
