A 40-year-old man from Ragama was fatally shot by two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle in Mount Lavinia last night. Police have launched investigations into the incident.
A fatal shooting incident occurred in the Mount Lavinia area last night when a 40-year-old man from Ragama was targeted at a residence on Huludagoda Mawatha. According to police statements, two individuals arrived at the location on a motorcycle and opened fire at the victim.
The victim sustained injuries from the shooting and was transported to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care at the facility.
Police investigations revealed that the assailants used a revolver-type firearm in carrying out the attack. The circumstances surrounding the motive for the shooting remain unclear at this stage. Two police teams have been assigned to investigate the incident, and authorities are working to establish the identities of the two suspects and determine the underlying cause of the shooting.
