Police have located a motorcycle allegedly used by suspects in the murder of the mother of underworld figure 'Backhoe Saman' in the Urubokka area. The victim was fatally shot at her home in Ulahitiyawa on Monday.

Authorities have recovered a motorcycle believed to have been used in a fatal shooting that claimed the life of the mother of underworld figure 'Backhoe Saman'. The vehicle was discovered abandoned near a culvert in a tea estate located along the Urubokka–Matara road in the Dampahala Polwatta area, according to police statements.

The incident occurred on Monday when two unidentified individuals arrived at a residence in the Ulahitiyawa area, within the Middeniya Police Division. The suspects opened fire on the occupants before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained critical injuries in the shooting and was transported to Middeniya Hospital, where she subsequently died from her wounds.

Police investigations indicate that a pistol-type firearm was used in the attack. The Urubokka Police recovered the motorcycle based on information received during their inquiry. However, the motive behind the killing remains unclear at this stage, and authorities have not yet identified the two suspects involved in the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
