(Our Correspondent) The government’s objective is to increase dollar income by strengthening domestic industries and allowing them to enter the export market, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said, adding that the government will provide maximum support to those who are ready to invest and conquer the market. The President stated this during a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (26) with leading businessmen in the rubber and tea production and export sectors. Pointing out that various countries in the world have become economically stronger by encouraging domestic industries to export, the President pointed out that the only way to get rid of the current foreign debt burden and dependence on international financial institutions is to increase domestic production capacity. New programs to be implemented to encourage domestic industries to enter the export sector were discussed in detail, and attention was also paid to implementing a new strategic plan in line with the National Export Development Plan 2026-2030 to develop the rubber and tea industries and increase export earnings.
