The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, held an official meeting with the retiring Army Commander, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, at Naval Headquarters on Tuesday. The meeting marked a formal recognition of Rodrigo's tenure as head of the Army.
Lieutenant General Rodrigo was welcomed with a traditional ceremonial guard of honour upon arrival, a gesture reflecting the protocols and customs of the Sri Lanka Navy. He was subsequently received formally by the Navy Commander.
During their discussions, Vice Admiral Fernando acknowledged Rodrigo's career accomplishments and specifically praised his role in fostering stronger working relationships between the Army and Navy. The two military leaders exchanged commemorative mementoes to mark the significant occasion.
