President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has promoted Navy Commander Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda to Admiral’s rank, effect from yesterday (30). The President granted the promotion ahead of Banagoda’s retirement yesterday. Banagoda was appointed the 26th Commander of the Navy, effective December 31, 2024. The next-in-line Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Damien Fernando succeeded Banagoda as the Navy Commander.
