While the annual festival of the historic Nainadhivu Nagapoosani Amman Temple is going on in full swing, devotees and residents of the area who visit the temple have faced various inconveniences due to continuous power cuts at night in Nainadhivu.

It is said that there has been a prolonged power cut at night for the past two days. It was assured at the Jaffna District Coordination Committee meeting that uninterrupted power supply would be provided 24 hours a day during the Nainadhivu festival.

In complete contradiction to the promise made in this situation, devotees visiting the temple have expressed their regret that the Electricity Board is currently implementing power cuts several times a day.

Meanwhile, thousands of devotees from within the country and abroad visit Nainadhivu daily on the occasion of the Nainadhivu festival.

In such a crowded environment, the power outage at night has caused great distress.

Social activists have pointed out that there are high chances of theft of devotees' jewelry and belongings taking advantage of the power outage and there is a high possibility of incidents. Therefore, considering the safety of the island and the welfare of devotees, the people have requested the Electricity Board officials to take immediate action.
