COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Dengue Control Unit has launched a special dengue control programme across 11 districts starting today (16).Director of NDCU Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said the programme is being implemented through 63 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) offices within those 11 districts.The seven-day programme will be carried out at the Grama Niladhari Division level.Meanwhile, Dr. Kannangara said fumigation activities will be conducted during morning and evening hours to reduce the number of dengue cases reported daily. A total of 71,235 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.The dengue death toll has also risen to 49.According to The National Dengue Control Unit175 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions across the country continue to be classified as high-risk dengue zones.Meanwhile, The Stop Dengue – National Dengue Eradication Programme is being carried out for the Eighth consecutive day today. The programme is being implemented with a focus on the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts.The initiative is organized by Maharaja Media Network led by News 1st in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.
