Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister has conveyed the country's support to Nepal following major flooding in the northern Rasuwa District, with no Sri Lankan nationals reported affected so far.

Sri Lanka has pledged its full solidarity with Nepal in the aftermath of severe flooding that has struck the Rasuwa District and surrounding areas in the country's northern border region. Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath conveyed his condolences to those affected by the disaster, stating that he was deeply saddened by reports of the devastation and extending his thoughts to impacted families and communities.

The flooding has affected areas along the Bhote Koshi River, prompting a large-scale rescue and relief operation. Nepalese authorities, including the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force, have mobilized to assist those in affected regions. Minister Herath acknowledged and commended the efforts of Nepalese officials and personnel engaged in the ongoing emergency response.

According to Sri Lanka's Foreign Ministry, there have been no confirmed reports of Sri Lankan casualties resulting from the floods. The Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu has indicated that approximately 85 to 100 Sri Lankan nationals are currently present in Nepal, comprising nearly 20 students and several individuals working with international organizations. The embassy stated it is actively monitoring developments and will provide updates as new information emerges regarding the situation and the welfare of Sri Lankans in the affected country.
