COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry Consultative Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation has focused on implementing several new methodologies to prevent irregularities during paddy purchasing.This attention was drawn during the meeting of the Consultative Committee held in Parliament, chaired by Minister K.D. Lalkantha.During the committee meeting, there was an extensive discussion on the measures to be taken to efficiently purchase paddy at the government-guaranteed price, prevent fraud and irregularities, and ensure a fair price for farmers.Meanwhile, paddy purchasing for this Yala season commenced yesterday.Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Namal Karunaratne, stated that Nadu will be purchased at Rs. 120 per kilogram, Samba at Rs. 130 per kilogram, and Kiri Samba at Rs. 140 per kilogram.
