New Navy Commander and IGP hold first official meeting

The newly appointed Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya has held a special official meeting at Police Headquarters today (17).Upon his arrival at Police Headquarters, Vice Admiral Fernando was warmly received by the IGP, who also extended his congratulations on the Navy Commander's recent appointment.During the meeting, the two sides had discussed strengthening cooperation between the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Police, with particular focus on providing naval assistance, where required, for operations aimed at maintaining law and order, combating the drug menace, and preventing other illegal activities.Following Vice Admiral Damian Fernando's appointment as Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, the meeting marked his first official meeting with the Inspector General of Police. The two sides also exchanged commemorative mementoes to mark the occasion.
